In A Different Context

In the university veterinary teaching hospital, "picking up" doesn't mean boy girl relationships. It means getting a new yappy patient to take care of while it's in hospital.

My latest yappy little patient yapped much less from pain after we did spinal surgery on it which I scrubbed in on too! What started as a scary "land shark" that threatened to bite anything that moved became a generally cute lap dog that waddled over for cuddles!
